The tiny villages of Lech and Zürs were originally settled in the 1200's by dairymen from near Zermatt. Neither has grown much in the ensuing 700 years; in fact Zürs has only 65 inhabitants in summer! Today Lech, with its rushing river, full of old world charm, was voted one of the prettiest in Austria while with a blink, Zürs passes you by. Their buildings, ancient and new, are colorfully painted in Tyrolian style. Elegant restaurants and clubs mix with discos, cozy stüblis and a small number of elite shops appealing to their sophisticated guests. Have lunch on the mountain or at one of the towns' popular ice bars. The one evening horse drawn go by sleigh through the star-lit pines for a romantic dinner in Zug.
